BRAWLEY 性视界传媒 The Brawley City Council in a special council meeting Monday night rejected changing the stripping of Main Street from four to two lanes as part of the main street waterline and pavement project by a 3-0 vote.

At the public hearing residents told council members their preference was keeping Main Street four lanes.

Jennifer Delgado, who worked for the city before retiring, urged the council to not change Main Street to two lanes that included parallel or diagonal parking, bike and parking docking stalls (spaces).

Delgado said there were other nearby buildings or businesses with ample parking for the city and residents, so there could be more public parking.

She reiterated for the council to keep Main Street to four lanes and for the parking on the street to be parallel.

One resident told the council he stays off Main Street because 性视界传媒渋t性视界传媒檚 not safe and is dangerous.性视界传媒 with no locations to lock up bicycles, though that is part of the city性视界传媒檚 plan to make that available.

City Engineering Consultant NV5 was asked if the projected changing of Main Street would result in decreased parking, but told the council that when the striping was complete there would be 11 additional spaces.

Councilman George Nava said not everyone is getting what they wanted.

性视界传媒淭here are no solutions, just trade-offs,性视界传媒 he said. 性视界传媒淒owntown is not what it used to be. We have to do something. It性视界传媒檚 not going to get better by itself.性视界传媒

Councilman Gilbert Rebollar agreed.

The Brawley City Council had previously directed the Public Works Department to proceed with a traffic analysis for reducing traffic lanes from four lanes to two lanes and installing diagonal parking using the 2013 downtown specific plan as a reference.

The traffic analysis provided the impacts for volume and capacity as well as impacts directed onto adjacent streets within the downtown area from Third Street to Eight Street on Main Street.
